Our Services
Early Intervention
Early intervention (EI) services are for children ages birth to 3 with a developmental delay or disability or who have certain risk factors. Early intervention services are key to helping children achieve important milestones and life skills right from the start. It also helps families navigate and support their child’s development and growth. EI is “family centered,” meaning that the family takes an active role in intervention services and treatment is based on a family’s preferences.
Early intervention is different for each child and family depending on the child’s needs and the family’s priorities. A team of caregivers and related professions (i.e., audiologists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, etc.) may be involved in providing care.
The Early Start program is California’s early intervention program for infants and toddlers with developmental delays or at risk for having a developmental disability and their families.
At Sprouting Speech Therapy Inc, we proudly partner with Eastern Los Angeles Regional Center (ELARC), a nonprofit agency contracted by the California Department of Developmental Services to provide support for children with developmental needs. Through ELARC’s Early Start Program, eligible children (birth to 3 years old) may receive evaluation, assessment, and service coordination at no cost to families.

Receptive and Expressive Language Disorders
Our receptive and expressive language services support children who experience difficulty understanding language or expressing their thoughts clearly and effectively. Challenges may include following multi-step directions, answering and asking questions, organizing ideas into clear sentences, using age-appropriate grammar, expanding vocabulary, or finding the right words to communicate. Some children may also struggle with understanding abstract language, making inferences, or participating confidently in conversations with peers and adults.
Therapy focuses on building strong foundational skills in listening comprehension, vocabulary development, sentence structure, and narrative organization. At the same time, we work to strengthen social communication and self-advocacy skills so children feel confident expressing themselves in both learning and social environments.
Each session is individualized, engaging, and tailored to meet the child exactly where they are developmentally. Using evidence-based strategies and meaningful, age-appropriate activities, we support steady, measurable progress empowering children to communicate more effectively in everyday life at home, in school, and in their communities.

Augmentative & Alternative Communication
Our Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) assessment and treatment services support individuals who need additional tools to communicate effectively. We conduct comprehensive evaluations to determine the most appropriate AAC system, which may include low-tech options (such as picture boards) or high-tech speech-generating devices. Assessments consider the individual’s communication strengths, motor abilities, sensory needs, language skills, and daily environments to ensure the selected system is functional, accessible, and meaningful.
Treatment focuses on helping individuals learn to use their AAC system confidently across settings such as at home, in school, and in the community. Therapy emphasizes building vocabulary, forming messages, initiating communication, and participating actively in social and academic interactions.
Caregiver coaching and training are an essential part of the process. We provide hands-on guidance to parents, family members, and other communication partners to ensure they feel confident modeling and supporting AAC use in everyday routines. By empowering caregivers with practical strategies and ongoing support, we help create consistent opportunities for communication and long-term success.
Speech Sound Disorders
Our speech sound disorder treatment services support children who have difficulty producing speech sounds clearly and accurately. Speech sound disorders can impact confidence, social interaction, and academic participation if not addressed.
Therapy begins with a comprehensive evaluation to identify specific sound errors and determine whether difficulties are related to articulation (how sounds are produced) or phonological patterns (how sounds are organized within words).
Sessions are engaging and motivating, using structured practice alongside play-based or age-appropriate activities to promote carryover into everyday conversation. We work closely with families to provide strategies and practice ideas for home, helping children build clear, confident speech across settings.
